Attorneys Emily Ford | Associate

Emily Ford's practice largely consists of civil defense and mass tort litigation, with a principled focus on product liability law. Before joining Thomas Combs & Spann, Emily served as a judicial law clerk with the Honorable Joseph R. Goodwin of the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia. Prior to her clerkship, she worked as an associate attorney from May 2020 to February 2023 where she litigated cases in a variety of areas including personal injury, automotive defense, medical malpractice, deliberate intent, and asbestos mass-litigation. Emily has represented clients in both state and federal court and has been involved in all aspects of litigation from developing initial case strategy, to conducting fact and expert witness depositions, and defending dispositive and post-trial motions. Emily has extensive experience in the preparation of dispositive motions and in conducting, reviewing, and analyzing e-discovery.

In May of 2020, Emily obtained her Juris Doctorate from the West Virginia University College of Law. While in law school, Emily won the 2019 Baker Cup Oral Advocacy Competition, was a member of the National Moot Court Team, and was the runner-up in the 2019 Lugar Cup. She also served as a class representative on the Student Bar Association, was a Dean's Fellow for torts and civil procedure, and graduated with honors, including Order of the Barristers.

Prior to attending WVU Law, Emily earned her Bachelor of Science from Randolph-Macon College, where she received a degree in English, History, and Chemistry, and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
